Copy Cat Hat FO

Hats, beanies, berets call them what you like, I’ve always had a love for the hand knitted variety. I have spent many afternoons sifting through the hat patterns on Ravlery adding more and more to my favourites. Despite this love for knitted headwear, I’ve only ever knitting 3! As I contemplated this, I decided that it needs to change – and there’s no time like the present, so I cast on for this.

It’s been a while since I’ve knitting something directly from a pattern without modifying it, and it feels good to know that the math, calculation and sizing are in the hands of someone else and all I have to do is just sit back and knit.

Hats are such a gratifying knit and I definitely want to have a collection of my own knitted hats by the end of this year.

{Thumbs up Gloves}

After weaving in what seemed like a gazillion ends on these quite odd-looking gloves I am more than happy to say they are done! And I’m loving them.

These are definitely my favourite pair of gloves I have made for myself and I really do see myself wearing these a lot this winter!Thumbs Up Gloves 2
I basically used odds and ends of worsted weight yarn and striped them at random intervals. I had the idea for this for some time but I wasn’t really sure how I was going to go about it. Would I buy 50g worth of coordinating colours? Would I just use scraps? Would I stripe them exactley the same? I had a lot of options, but it did feel silly to go out and buy numerous amounts of skeins just for one pair of fingerless gloves, so scraps it was!

They ended up taking my a bit more time then I expected, but it was worth it and it seems some of my friends like the idea as well and I have a few requests for birthday pressies!

I guess I have to start saving up those worsted weight scraps! : )

What a great pattern! So versatile, basic, neat and ahh seamless : )
This was more than a pleasure to knit and it almost finished all too soon. The yarn I used (Cascade 220) was so easy and lovely to work with and I can’t say enough good things about the pattern.

It’s quite a close fit but is ever so warm when buttoned up!

I love, love, love these adorable mini pockets! I debated about whether or not to put buttons in and chose not to since the pockets are so small

Such a simple, classic sweater great for all Spring, Autumn or Winter!

I know it’s a bit late, but I hope everyone had a delightful New Year’s celebration and are all very excited about the possibilities 2011 bring. I went on a bit of a holiday just after the new year, so I haven’t been able to blog about my knitting. I actually have been knitting like a lunatic, and I’m not exaggerating! I have really been in the mood and it seems like finally – the sweater bug has truly got to me! All I have worked on, thought about and looked at the past few weeks have been sweaters so, for me, 2011 will be the Year of the Sweaters!

I’ll start off with a FO, thats right I managed to knock off a whole sweater in one week : ) Though it was a simple stockinette, raglan in the round with some moss stitch trims, just something simple to get me started.

I have really come to love those raglan sleeves, they always fit just right and no seaming needed – perfect.

But no, I didn’t stop there, I cast on for Annabel, a really simple garter stitch pullover pattern.

I really love the soft colours in this yarn, It reminded me of how fun colourful yarn can be – I haven’t knit with it in so ages because sometimes the yarn looks better on the hank then in does knit up with many variegated yarns I have come across. I have finished the body and just have to transfer the sleeve stitches on to needles and knit the 3/4 sleeves.

Before I tell you about my latest FO, I would like to wish everyone a happy and joyful New Year and I hope everyone had a nice Christmas as well. Christmas for us was quiet this year but filled with delicious food as always, all the handknitted gifts were very well appreciated and I have already spotted my mum wearing the socks I knit for her around the house : )

{Double V Cardi} by {Mellisa Wehrle}
This cardigan was knit in Sublime Organic Cotton DK, and was my second sweater. I think I’m pretty happy overall but there are a few things I would of liked to change. My camera was acting up so I only have this one shot for you at the moment. I modified the sleeves because I didn’t want really loose fitting sleeves and I shortened the length of them as well, I don’t know if that was such a good idea though as my arms are quite badly sunburnt and tanned already! My seaming needs to be improved, but I’m hoping to knit more in the round sweaters because I’m really not one for sewing. But overall I am happy with this summer cardi and am excited about the prospect of knitting more ; )

I’m currently eagerly waiting for various amounts of yarn to make a few different things to come in, so while I wait I’m finishing off all my Christmas knitting, and dare I say it – everything, all sock, gloves scarfs and hats are done and I can happily cast on for something for myself – finally.
The lucky last gifts that had to be finished were…
{Tropical Gloves} knit from my handyed

So now that everything is nicely wrapped and placed neatly under the christmas tree or sent of to the recipient I can kick back and think about some sweater knitting for me!
